Dr. Matthew Wendt
President & CEO
Dr. Matthew Wendt grew up on a farm in Kansas. A 1986 graduate from Osawatomie High School, Osawatomie, Kansas, Dr. Wendt is beginning his 30th year serving educators, students and families.
Dr. Wendt earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kansas; Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas; and Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas. He earned a Doctorate degree from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Arkansas. His dissertation, which focused on teacher instruction, leadership, support staff and student learning within mathematics in high poverty schools was named a Dissertation of the Year.
Dr. Wendt began his professional career as an English teacher and athletic coach. He has served as a principal and an assistant superintendent for teaching and learning. At age 30, Dr. Wendt was the youngest school district superintendent in Kansas and went on to serve multiple school systems in four states as the chief executive officer.
In 2015, Dr. Wendt joined at the time only 26 superintendents across America in receiving the first-ever National Superintendent’s Certification from the American Association of School Administrators (AASA). Dr. Wendt was appointed in 2016 to the National Superintendent’s Advisory Council for The College Board in New York. This small, but important group of national leaders from across America provided input and feedback on programs, including SAT exams, Advanced Placement (AP) courses and tests, teacher training and school leadership.
In 2018, Dr. Wendt’s service to American public schools ended and new opportunities within international education started by being named a Foreign Principal in Shenzhen, China. This appointment led to the development of a professional friendship with many international school leaders in China, Vietnam, Jordan, Thailand, India, Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Canada. These new relationships have ushered in a new partnership that has led to launching the American Institute for International School Partnerships, LLC (AIISP).
AIISP is focused on school-to-school partnerships, academic summer institutes and camps, teacher and school administrator recruitment, and professional development, training and educator effectiveness. More information can be found at the website, www.aiisp.com.
